Okay, I haven’t updated this for a couple of days as I’ve been busy with work, so I figured I’d concatonate JM’s last few posts into just the one.

Mailbag and Breakdown

• Roberto Picardo will be in 14 of 20 episodes for Season 5.

That’s it I’m afraid, spoilers haven’t really been abound on JM’s blog lately 😦

Replicator cliffhanger WILL be revisted

Today’s Mailbag:

• The Replicator cliffhanger from Be All My Sins Remember’d will be revisited in Season 5, although with Torri Higginson not reprising her role, the character may either be written out completely or re-cast.
• There may be an episode in Season 5 dealing with hive ship creation and how wraith technology is produced.
• Season 5 of Atlantis may premiere before the fall season, although the exact date is up to Sci-Fi to determine.

A short one, I know; but most of the other questions answered seemed more to do with interpersonal real-life relationships and production questions that don’t really matter.

Torri Higginson declines to reprise role, mailbag

No Stargate-related pics this entry, but an interesting tidbit for those Elizabeth Weir fans out there.

Torri Higginson, who played Elizabeth Weir throughout the first 3 seasons of Atlantis (guest starring in several Season 4 episodes) will NOT be reprising her role in Season 5. Despite the producers having spun a Season 5 episode bringing back her character in replicator-form, with an option for a longer arc should production go well, Torri Higginson declined to appear.

Whether or not this means that the role will be filled by another actress (a possibility considering how Asurans can change shape/appearance at will) or simply left out of the production of Season 5 remains to be seen.

Mailbag

• Leela Savasta has been cast as “Captain Alicia Vega” (changed from Alison Porter) for Season 5 and will be appearing in a yet-to-be-disclosed number of episodes.
• The Tria may possibly make an appearance in Season 5, as it is currently floating without propulsion between galaxies.
• The Brotherhood of 15 may be revisited, as they’re currently in posession of the only known full ZPM.
• About half of Season 5 has been mapped out.
• “Captain Alicia Vega” has been confirmed for Search and Rescue, “Doctor Alison Porter” will be debuting in Whispers.
• John Shepherd is the older brother.
• Ronon and Keller are not dating as of yet; she’s still single.

 Season 5 Breakdown

• Production of S05E01 has started, VFX work is currently underway.
• “Captain Porter” (name TBC) has been cast as an extra from S03E15 – The Tao of Rodney.
• Rachel Luttrell has been briefed about Teyla’s character development and direction for Season 5.

Mailbag

• The Travelers (and their leader Larrin) will feature at some point in Season 5.
• Weir’s involvement in Season 5 will most likely be a single episode story rather than a multi-episode arc.
• Todd will appear in Season 5.
• Atlantis’ 100th episode, while not broken yet, is currently at the idea stage.
• Paul McGillion will be appearing in a minimum of 5 episodes; the writers have kept options open for additional episodes if a good idea comes up.
• There are no nanite particles left dormant in space after the attack in Be All My Sins Remembered.
